JULY 18, 1940 Advertisements. 17 Apparently very little, but the drawings for the casting on the right were brought to us by the customer, while the casting on the left . . . just as suitable for our customer's purpose, is one of the consignment we delivered. The difference lies in the great saving which the BIRMAL engineers made when they suggested, with the consent of the customer, a slight alteration in the design of the job. The casting on the right has a sand (By courtesy of British Thermostat Co., Ltd-, Sunbury-on-Thames) core; that on the left a steel core. This subtle change of shape helped to reduce the customer's costs, and at the same time provided a casting of greater accuracy and better finish. Die Casting starts with the design of the die at BIRMAL and it saves money to consult Birmal before you start a casting job. * BIRMAL not only make castings in all Aluminium Alloys .... they make "Elektron" (Magnesium Alloy) castings also.
