The Longhorn had a maximum speed of50 m.p.h THE BLOATER: (Below)The B.E.8 which had an 80 h.p. Gnome. It wasthe only B.E. type to have a rotary engine. G 2.1 if iz. D.H. DESIGNED :(Above)The B.E.2 had a 70 h.p. Renault engine and lateralcontrol was effected by warping the wings. Thecovered wheels were an innovation at that time. B.E. DEVELOPMENT :Balanced ailerons were used on the B.E.2.C. anda small fin had been added. The engine wasa 90 h.p. R.A.F. and the top speed was 72 m.p.h. SINGLE BAY B.E. : Thetop wing of. the B.E.2.e. had a pronounced over-hang and only a single pair of interplane strutson each side.
