FLIGHT, May 2gift, 1941. g AS NIGHT FOLLOWS THE DAY Night Victories Approach the T7OLLOWING the success of our Metro-1 politan fighter force in keeping the skies of Britain more or less clear of raidersduring the day, our night fighters, aided and abetted by secret and other devices,have exceeded all previous records. During the first sixteen nights of May no fewer than142 enamy raiders were certainly accounted for, in addition to a large number knownto have been damaged. A sure and certain sign of the growing effectivenessof our night defence is the extravagant claims made by the Germans of thecasualties among our night fighters. Actually these are infinitesimal. This pageof pictures, showing what is revealed the morning after the nigjht before, is symbolicof what is happening to a lot of German aircraft and air crews. On the night ofMay 10th the destruction of 33 aircraft / resented nearly one in ten of theraiding force.
