JUNE 5TH, 1941 FLIGHT Advertisements vii. A beautiful Wedgwood Jasper Vase representing the Apotheosis of Virgil, surmounted by Pegasus Cover. TRUE ENGLISH CRAFTSMEN I I N 1759 Josiah Wedgwood became a master potter and he knew his trade as only those who have practised a trade can. He made many of his own models, prepared bis own mixtures, and looked after firing himself. His aim was always to make the good better still, and largely through his efforts the British pottery trade was soon to lead the world. . . The firm he founded is famous and prosperous to-day, and pieces he made still delight those who admire and cherish the art of fine pottery. Wedgwood followed and carried on a tradition of workmanship and sound management that is essentially English. In the Pullin Organization it lives to-day. A management experienced in every process directs a force of designers and craftsmen whose work is a constant challenge to perfection. They are proud that it stands up to the highest standard of all— fitness for use in warfare by the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force, the greatest and most efficient fighting forces in the world.
