This was duly fitted ant!the machine flown 860 miles back to Hong Kong using full aileron tab. Glider Fuel Tankers A CCORDING to reports from America,^*- the British Air Commission is under- stood to have asked foi specificationsfrom American sailplane manufacturers for a "flying gas tank" glider forfuelling bombers after take-off. By this means a glider carrying some 500 gallonsof fuel takes off towed by the heavy- laden bomber to which it transfers its fuelalmost as soon as they leave the ground, thereafter cutting loose and returning tothe aerodrome. The use of glider-tankers instead ofpower-driven craft for this purpose would, of course, be much cheaper, butthere are fairly obvious disadvantages. A Chaplain Appeals SOME 700 young men undergoing wire-less technical training at two R.A.F.centres on the outskirts of London are at present deprived of the ordinary ameni-ties of camp life because they have to be billeted out, so it is intended to start aclub for them. The Chaplain of the Station, the Re»-F. \V. Bowyer, is therefore appealing for gifts in the form of sports equipment.Gifts should be sent to the Kev. Bowyer. c/o The Air League oi tneBritish Empire, Kinnaird House, ia, la" Mall East, London, S.W.i.
