AUGUST 13TH, 1942 FLIGHT Advertisements. 9 The Javelin Process of Electric Etching is particularly suited to the marking of hardened steel which cannot be marked with a cutter. Using the Multiple machine small components up to fifteen in number can be etched simultaneously from the one pantograph. The model illustrated will also handle bulkier articles by reason of the adjustable work table. In operation the width of line and depth of marking is determined by the size of javelin chosen and the current fed to the electrode. Either flat or curved surfaces are etched to a uniform degree and the javelin electrode automatically adjusts itself to compensate for wear. No prior or alter treatment is needed and the operation from start to finish can be undertaken by unskilled employees. List No. 1639 describes the process fully and will be sent on request.
