221)0 This Beaufighter was ground-straff ing, .when it hit the desert and all six metal blades of its de Havilland propellers were bent back for some inches. The sortie was completed and the aircraft landed at a forward base to refue.1. It then took -off again and returned to its own base in the Delta area where the propellers were removed and rectified. In all, the aircraft flew about 1,000 miles with the propellers in the bent condition but on landing the pilot reported " There was a little vibration and loss of performance.
