JUNE 24TH, 1943 Fires started in the dock area of Bremen after an R.A.F. raid FLIGHT Advertisements 29 crown Copyright For the examination of LIGHT-METAL CASTINGS HAVING WIDE RANGES OF THICKNESS The correct choice of film for the radiographic examination of light-metal castings is an important point in technique. Generally the chief requirement is to obtain maximum contrast: and for this purpose 'Industrex' Type D or ' Crystallex' filrrTis the best choice. But when castings have a wide range of thicknesses the radiographic contrast may become so marked, with the above films, that a single radiograph will not adequately record the whole specimen at one exposure. Under these circumstances 'Industrex' Type S film may be used to obtain somewhat lower contrast, although with an inevitable loss in the sensitivity of fault detection. Where maximum sensitivity of fault detection must be obtained, separate exposures (preferably on' Industrex' Type D) should be made for various thicknesses.
