APRIL 2OTH, 1944 J - - FLIGHT Advertisements. 11 JAVELIN PROCESS of ELECTRIC ETCHING "The JAVELIN Etching Process is finding innumerable applications in the Engineering Industry. The clean-cut, indelible lines traced by the vibrating javelin point form a rapid, a safe and an accurate means of etching identification, assembly or trade marks on highly-finished metal surfaces, particularly hardened steel or delicate pieces where engraving is inadvisable. Since no heavy pressure is applied the javelin marking, although it gives a clearly legible and practi- •' cally indelible design, does not impair fatigue resistance of important parts. For this reason, the process is widely used in the marking of automobile and aero engine parts. A single Javelin unit can be used in conjunction with an engraving machine. Where numerous parts are to be etched simultaneously with the same design, the Multiple Javelin Etcher shown here enables up to fifteen pieces to be handled at a time.
