14 Advertisements. FLIGHT To transmit a heavy FlUCruKfWG We were asked to design a coupling to absorb torsional vibrations in the drive to a large Rootes blower on a stationary engine. The torque involved is 865 lb. ft., and is now taken by our coupling of only 12 5/8* o.d. This Z.P.U.S. coupling has proved to be most efficent in reducing the effects of the fluctua tions in torque, and moreover, allows an appreciable amount of universal movement The construction is of interest: the metal elements, to which the "cushions" are bonded by the Metalastik rubber-to-metal weld, are identical pressings attached to simple turned flanges. This is but a typical example of Metalastik engineering in which, by the application of the company's highly specialised technique and experience, designs are produced which elimin ate the complexity of less efficient substitutes and give an improved performance.
