Advertisements FLIGHT AUGUST IOTH, 1944 t^x^c^z^t^za^ed cf $ie J^rsiAJe J-Ze&ite -t^z/ue t . . <-//&. 'Z. ELIMINATING VALVE MAINTENANCE This is the first of a series of twelve advertisements prepared for retention, and constitutes a simple story of sleeve-valve advantages. T HE simplicity achieved by the sleeve-valve is particularly noticeable when one considers the question of valve main tenance. The absence of any complicated cylinder-head mechanism tliminates all tappet and rocker adjustments ; furthermore, no valve springs have to be inspected. Once a " Bristol" sleeve-valve engine has been assembled ; providing the ignition, carburettor, and oil filters are serviced regularly, no further maintenance is necessary. Valve timing remains positive irrespective of engine speed. No wonder " Bristol " sleeve-valve engines are so easy to maintain , and that they power so many types of service and commercial aircraft- "> ^r 0» «w. V ^; ; . t , ^£^^^B ^\ vfl^k HI !i IliinmM H.
