LOCKHART, D.S.O., D.F.C., If A FAIL, No. 692 Sqn.—In February, 1944, this officer was posted to form and command No. 692 .Sqn, Since then he has shown outstanding ability, and his leadership has been largely responsible for the fine record set up by the squadron. No. 103 Sqn.—As flight commander he has exhibited the highest qualities of leader ship and set a fine example by the indomitable spirit he has shown in the execution of his opera tional flying duties. BEDELL, D.F.C., R.A.F.V.R., No. 139 Sqn.—This officer has completed a large number ot sorties. He took part in the Battle ol Britain and in numerous attacks on vital targets in Germany. No. 156 Sqn.—Fit. Lt. McCarthy has displayed great coolness .and determination as a bomb aimer, fie lias operated in this capacity over most of the heavily defended objectives in enemy territory. Under very trying circumstances and in the face of heavy opposition he has invariably displayed courage of a high order and unfailing accuracy. F O. R. W. LAWTON, D.F.C.'.. R.A.A.F.. NO. 460 (R A.A.F ) Sqn.—F/O. Lawton, now on his second tour of operational duty, has taken part in attacks against such strongly defended objectives as Berlin. Leipzig. Augsburg, Stettin and Frank furt. As an air bomber he has pressed home the attacks with a complete disregard of enemy oppo-. sition. This officer's coolness, co-operation and devotion to duty have contributed much to the successes attained by his crew. Act. Sqn. Ldr L. F. AUSTIN. D.F.C., R.C.A.F., No. 106 Sqn.—Since the award of the D.F.C.. Sqn. Ldr. Austin has completed a second tour of operations. He has flown as captain of aircraft on a large number of difficult and dangerous sorties. O-f&rVmany of the enemy's most heavjly defended targets this officer has displayed unfailing reliability and skill. Act. Sqn. Ldr. R. £. POWELL, D.F.C., R.A.F., No. 202 Sqn.— Throughout two tours of operational duty this officer has set an exceptionally high standard of ability, courage and leadership.
