DAVENPORT, D.F.C., R.A.A.F., No. 455 (R.A.A.F.) Sqn.—This officer has taken part in a large number of sorties, includ ing many attacks on shipping, during which much loss has been inflicted on the enemy. Recently, he led a formation of aircraft in an attack on an enemy convoy which was escorted by armed ships. In spite of fierce opposing Are, a most determined and successful attack was made. Two medium-sized merchant vessels and one of the escorting vessels were very severely damaged. In this well-executed operation Wing Cdr. Davenport displayed high powers of leadership, great skill_ and determination, which contributed material" to the results obtained. This officer has deled great service, haw impressed all. Act. Sqn. This officer .is a fearless and relentless fighter and has been responsible for the destruc tion of nine enemy aircraft in the air and damaged four on the ground. Act. Sqn. Ldr E. N. BUNTING, D.F.C., R.A.F.V.R.. No. 488 (N.Z.) Sqn.—This officer has completed a very large 'number of sorties and has displayed a high standard of skill and keennesi throughout. He has destroyed seven enemy air craft at night, successes which pay a good tribute to his ability and resolution.
