WinK Odi G W. C'UREY, D.S.O., D.F.C,R.A.F.V.R , No, 6i.7 Sqn.—Wing Cdr. Curry has completed a second tour ol operational duty duringwhich he has completed many notable sorties. On ono occasion he took part in an attack whichresulted in tha (.reaching of the Dortmund-Ems Canal. On another occasion Wing Cdr. Curry ledthe squadron on a target far into enemy territory. Whilst iver the target considerable anti-aircraftfir© was encountered. Every aircraft, WHS hit. Nevertheless, the operation wag completed success-fully. Munchen-Gladbach, Stuttgart, Brunswick and Eremerhaven have been among the various targets Wing Cdr. Curry has attacked. A. t'RAJCKNELL, D.F.C.,R.A.F.V.R., No. 35 Squ.—This officer was pilot and 'captain of an aircraft detailed to attackDussekiorf one night in November, 1944. Before reaching the target the aircraft came under firefrom the ground defences and was hit several times. Despite this, Wing Cdr. • Cracknell wenton to execute a long and steady bombing run. The accuracy oi the attack was well proved by thephotograph obtained. This officer has completed many sorties on his third tour of operational dutyand has displayed great personal gallantry and devotion to duty. Act. Wing Cdr. D. T. WITT, D.F.C., D.F.M.,R.A.F., No. 635 Sqn.—As pilot of aircraft this officer ha# participated in 100 sorties, many oftliem against the most heavily defended targets. His last three missions were against Esseu, Cologneand Dusseldorf respectively. On each of these • occasions he pressed home his attacks with thegreatest determination in the face of intense anti- aircraft fire to obtain good results. He has dis-played the highest standard of skill and bravery, setting an example o'. a high order. Act. Sqn. Ldr. J. R. DoW, D.K.C.. R.C.A.F.,N->. 635 Sqn.—Since being awarded a bar to the Distinguished Flying Cross this officer has par-ticipated in many sorties against dangerous tar- gets. The succe»s achieved reflects the greatestcredit on the efforts of Sqn. Ldr. Dow, whose skill and determination have been outstanding. Onone occasion, in September, 1944, he was air bomber in an aircralt detailed to attack a targetnear Calais. Owing to the proximity of our ground forces, precise bombing was essential. Considerableanti-aircraft fire was directed at his aircraft whilst over the target. Nevertheless, Sqn. Ldr. Dow exe-cuted a- successful attack from a low level. This officer has displayed the finest qualities of gallantry and. devotion to duty. Act. Sqn. Ldr. N. A. .J. MACKIE. D.F.C..R.A.F.V.R. No. 571 Sqn.—This officer has com. pleted a third tour of opcr/moral dufy duringwhich he has attacked a wide variety of targets in Germany, _ He is a iearlese and devoted captainwhose splendid example has been well reflected iu the fine fighting spirit of his crews. In November,1944, Sqn. Ldr. Mackie led a formation of air- craft in an attack on Duisburg, one of the mostheavily defended targets in the Ruhr. Consider able heavy and accurate anti-aircraft tire %vasencountered on approaching the target, but So,n. Ldr. Mackie kept his formation well together toexecute a good attack. This officer, who hex always elected to take part in tlie most dangerousopeiations, has set on example of a high order.- Act. Sqn. Ldr. B. MOORCROFT, I1.F.C.U.A.F.V.R., No. 635 Sqn.—This officer has par- ticipated iu many sortits sim-c being awarded theD.F.C. In addition to his notable work in the air, Sqn Ldr. Moorcroft. has rendered -valuableservice in the training ol other members of the squadron.Act. Sqn. Ldr. G. A. PATRICK, D.F.C., R.N.Z.A.F.. No. 35 Sqn.—Sqn. Ldr. Patrick hasan impressive operational record, having partici- pated in 118 sortie?. On one occasion, in Novem-ber, 1944, he was a member of the crew of an aircraft detailed to attack Dusseldtirf. Soon afterthe take-ofl all the wireless navigational aids became unserviceable. Nevertheless, Sqn. Ldr.Patrick navigated the aircraft to target, which was successfully attacked. His faultless work ona sortie, the success ol which depended on accurate timing, was worthy of the highest praise. Hisstrong sense of discipline, great resolution and devotion to duty have set an example of a highorder. Act. Sqn. Ldr. H. J. SANDERSON, D.F.C..R.A.F.V.R., No. 139 Sqn.-This officer has dis- played outstanding keenness for operational fly-ing. He has completed a third tour of operational*, duty during which he lias attacked a variety oftargets in Germany. He has displayed a high degree ot courage and resolution in pressing homehis attacks, often in the face of intense anti- aircraft fire. On one occasion whilst over Berlin,a target he has attacked no less than ten times, his aircraft was illuminated in the searchlights.Despite this, Sqn. Ldr. Sanderson maintained a steady run in to attack the target with accuracy.His determination was typical of that which he has shown on all occasions. This officer hitsproved of tremendoiis value to the squadron. Fit. Lt. A. MITCHELL, D.F.C., R.A.F.V.R., No.571 Sqn.—Since being awarded the D.F.C. this officer has completed a large number of sorties,including twelve attacks on Berlin. He has dis.- played exceptional skill and great personal couragein pressing home his attacks, the accuracy ef which has been proved by the number of goodphotographs obtained. He has displayed the greatest keenness for air operations and has eorn-pleted more than a hundred sorties. Act. Fit. Lt. E. E. 8TOCKEH, D.F.C., R.A.F.,No. 582 Sqn.—This officer continues to display a. high degree oi skill and courage in air opera-tions. He has participated in a hundred sorties most of which have been against targets in Ger-many. His skilful and resolute work has been largely responsible for the many successes obtained.His example has been of a high order. Act. Group Capt. J. A.
