Ldr. B. A. BUEBEJDQE, D.S.O., D.F.C.,R.A.F.V.H., No. 85 Sqn. Fit. Lt. F. S. SKELTON, DS.O., D.F.C.,R.A.F.V.R., No. 85 Sqn.—As pilot and observer respectively, these officers have completed wellover a hundred sorties and throughout have set an unsurpassed example of determination anddevotion to duty. They have now destroyed 20 enemy aircraft at night, successes which are afine tribute to their outstanding skill and cour- age. On a number of occasions their own aircrafthas sustained damage during a fight with the enemy, but each time Sqn. Ldr. Burbridge hasflown back to base and landed safely. One night early in January, 1945, was the occasion on•which they shot down their twentieth enemy aircraft. Distinguished Service OrderAct. Group Capt. M. G. F. PEDLEY, D.F.C., R.A.F.—This officer has completed much, opera-tional flying. During the fighting in Tunisia Group Capt. Pedley participated in very manysorties and shot down two enemy aircraft. Throughout these operations he displayed thehighest qualities of determination and devotion. In later operations Group Capt. Pedley, has com-manded l*rge formations of aircraft with con- spicuous success- His leadership has been of ahigh order and his undoubted ability has been well reflected in success of the formations underhis command. Act. Wing Cdr. J. G, BENSON, D.F.C., R.A.F.V.R.,No. 157 Sqn. Act. 8qn. Ldr. L. BRANDON, D.F.C., R.A.F.V.R.,No. 157 Sqn.—These officers have displayed the highest standard of skill and determination. Aspilot and observer respectively they have com- pleted a very large number of sorties and haveinflicted ranch loss on the enemy Among their successes is the destruction of ten enemy aircraft. the last of which they shot down one night inJanuary, 1945. Their devotion to duty has been unfailing.Act. Sqn. Ldr. H. B. F. LYMNA, D.F.C., DF.M., R.A.F.—This officer has taken part in more thanninety sorties against various enemy targets, most of them heavily defended. He has consistentlydisplayed a high standard of gallantry, and his strong sense of discipline and devotion to dutyat all times have set a very fine example. In January, 1945, Squ. Lr. Lymna was the bombaimer in an aircraft detailed to attack Munich. On the outward flight some of the navigationalequipment became partially unserviceable. Sqn. Ldr. Lymna skilfully effected repairs. Whennearing the target the aircraft came under heavy anti-aircraft fireand was repeatedly hit.. For the second time the same equipmentbecame unserviceable. Neverthe- less, Sqn. Ldr. Lymna againeffected repairs sand was able tn give his captain directions for anaccurate bombing run. His cool and skilful work contributedmaterially to the success of the sortie. This officer has renderedmuch loyal and devoted service in air operations against the enemy Fit. Lt. R. H. PHILLIPS, D.F.C.,R.A.F.V.R, No. 7 Sqn.—This officer is an outstanding captainwho has completed more than ninety operational missions. Onenight in January, 1945, he piloted an aircraft in an attack againstMunich. The operation called for a high degree of skill and resolu-tion. In spite of considerabe fire which was directed at his aircraft,Fit. Lt. Phillips made two runs over the target to ensure accu-racy.
