INDIAN FLYING T BASE One of the largest -flying boat bases in India is at Korangi Creek, Karachi. This base does most of the maintenance work onR.A.F. Catalinas and Sunderlands and it is here that Catalinas and Sunderlands arriving from the U.K. are " routed " to their forward bases. R.A.F. flying boats have played many roles during the war in S.E. Asia. In addition to anti-submarine andshipping patrols, shadowing of Jap naval task forces, bombing vital targets, and ferrying sick and wounded, R.A.F. Catalinas take part in anti-locust patrols, making daily sorties over the mountains and deserts of Baluchistan and across the Persianborder with the object of checking and wiping out the breeding places of the locust pests which constitute a great menace to the agriculturalists in North West India.
