1 JET PROPULSION ROLLS-ROYCE RIVER CLASS The first Jet-propulsion engines to be put ' into production in this country have been developed and produced by Rolls-Royce. The first two types to be released are the "Welland" and the "Derwent." These are the first members of a class which is destined to become famous under the name "River," to express the idea of flow associated with jet-propulsion — another great British invention.
