Hardy, C.B F.Nov 1st, 1945 ' Awards Royal Air Force THE JKING, has been graciously pleased ifapprove the following awards in recognitionof gallantry and devotion to duty in the execution of air operations: — Bar to Distinguished Service Order Act. Wing Cdr. K. H. P. BEAUCHAMP, D.S.O..D.F.C., R.A.F.O., No 157 Sqn.—Wing Cdr. Beau- champ has completed three tours of operationalduty. He has taken part in many operations since the award of the D.S.O. In November, 1944. hedestroyed an enemy aircraft at Handorf. and in December, 1944, during a patrol near Coblenzhe sighted another enemy aircraft and pursued it through low cloud before attacking and setting iton fire. In all, this officer's squadron has de- stroyed 63 enemy aircraft Wing Cdr. Beaut ham phas at all times shown courage and devotion ' duty of a high order. Distinguished Service OrderGroup Capt. W. H. KYLE, D.F.C., R.A.F.—Sim :v commencing his operational career in November,1940, this officeT has proved to be a most capable and determined pilot and an inspiring leader offormation operations in caylight. On one occasion he completed a long weather reconnaissance andthen made a most successful bombing attack on the seaplane base on the Island of Sylt. Sincethe award of the D.F.C. in 1941, Group Capt, Kyle assumed command of a, Station which wasoperating the first Mosquito bomber squadron arv! was in the process of forming and training asecond squadron of these aircraft. This officer's meticulous attention to detail, brilliant leadership in the air and inspiring example have been reflected in the outstanding successes achieved bvthe two squadrons under his command. Acting Group Capt. D. H BUKNSIDE. D.F.C.R.A.F.O., No. 19J Sqn.—Group Capt. Bnrnside has operated in Iraq, Persia. India and Burma.Under his leadership bis squadron has shown out- standing results which have been in a greatmeasure due to this officer's determination and ability He has led numerous operational missionsand his coolness and devotion to duty in the face of the enemy have at all times set a fine example.Act. Group Capt. S. P. COULSON, D.F.C., R.A.F., No. 582 Sqn.—As a squadron commanderGroup Capt. Coulson has displayed outstanding ability. He has done much fine work as a masterbomber and target marker and excellent results have been obtained by his squadron. This officerhas an impressive record of missions successfully completed and has at all times shown exceptionalqualities of leadership and devotion t,o duty. Act. Group Capt P. W. JOHNSON. D.F.C..A.F.C.. R.A.F.O., No. 97 Sqn. This officer has been in command of his squadron since Noveher, 1944. during which time the squadron JVas been employed on pathfinder duties. Act Group ("apt H. J. F. LE GOOD, D.A.F.C.. R A.F . No. 35 Sqn—As a squadron co: mander this officer has shown outstanding ability.He has also shown great keenness to fly with his squadron on all missions, frequently in the roleo[ master bomber. Group Capt. Le Good has proved himself to be an outstanding operationalleadei who has displayed great courage and deter mination on ail occasions.Act. Wing Cdr J. D. BOLTON. D.F.C., H.A.F.V.R., No. 162 Sqn.—Since the award of theD.F.C. this officer has taken part in many opera- tional sorties. He has invariably displayed out-standing airrr.anship, courage and great determina- tion. In December 1944, Wing Cdr.
