Although they will be flying the latest types on June Sth, the squadrons concerned operated. during the war with Swordfish, Fulmars and Barracudas. No. 811 Squadron, now equipped with Sea Mosquitoes, flew Swordfish ^iroughout the war and escorted more 20 convoys. It will be led by its #., Lt. Cdr.' S. M. P. Walsh, D.S.O., lr?5.C. and Bar, whose wartime experi- ence includes attacks on E-boats, and mine-laying. Seafire XVIIs will be ilown by No. 807 Squadron, which operated in the Mediterranean in 1940, tlying Fulmars; its CO. is Lt. Cdr. S" J. Hall, D.S.C. In 1939 No. 816 Squadron was opera- ting in the Channel with Swordnsh until 1944. when after one convoy to rixj _ K Russia, it converted to Barracudas and Dennison: Fit. sgt. G. A Maginley later to Fireflies, which it will fly on S^ E T- Sith V-day..
