\\jmways hy Nature Unlimited.... The dominating factor controlling the future operation of large aircraft is the provision of runways capable of taking their weight. The map shows extreme - stage, long - stage and medium-stage air routes over the world, and all of these are suitable for operation by large flying boats. This is because the terminals and ports of call all have existing or potential marine airports, with " runways by Nature Unlimited." These airports can be quickly and cheaply developed to provide first - class operating facilities for flying boats of any size, however large. Thus, when the really large flying boat appears, it will be applicable to any or all of these routes, whatever the stage lengths involved. By virtue of its size and performance it will carr good payload over the longest worth-while stage of any air route in the world. And when applied to the shorter stage routes it will offer even higher payload capacity, because the cubic space required per passenger will be less.
