FLIGHT MAY 29TH, 1947 ON THE CONCORDIA FOR FEEDER-LINE OPERATION BY THE AIR CORPORATIONS The Cunliffe-Owen " Concordia" design called for a retractable tricycle under- carriage, and the Lockheed equipment therefore comprises a nosewheel shock- absorber strut and two shock-absorber struts for the main undercarriage, designed to give increased comfort and reliability. One of these is illustrated and shows the robust torsion linkage. The nosewheel strut combines shock-absorp- tion with a friction-damped "anti-shimmy" device and centralising function which however permits caster-action when manoeuvring on the ground and can be put out of action for ground towing. .-if.
