24-28 volts 3-PHASE 115 Volts 400 Cycles 75 v.a. at 75°/o p.f. 55°/o-75°/o efficiency according to load The Sperry 'COMVERTER' is a new high- efficiency power unit for supplying 3-phase current at 115 volts, 400 cycles from the normal 24-28 volt aircraft supply. It has the following advantages : • Low Power Consumption. Because of its revolutionary design the ' COMVERTER ' has a low power consumption, taking the minimum starting current. For example, when driving a Sperry ' Gyrosyn ' Compass and Sperry Electric Artificial Horizon the starting current is only about 10 amps., dropping to 3.75 amps, in approximately 40 seconds. Low Speed. Resulting in quiet operation — — no vibration — no whine — long periods between overhauls. Constant Frequency—within ± 1% between 23-30 volts battery fluctuation. Accurate Voltage Regulation. 115 volts are maintained at maximum output. * The 'COMVERTER ' is suitable for driving all 3-phase electrical flight instruments, including the most recent types—The Sperry Electric Artificial Horizon and The Sperry ' Gyrosyn ' Compass, Models IVF and IVB. ' Comverters ' for 150 v.a. and 250 v.a. outputs are being dlddeveloped A R B Approved THE SPERRY GYROSCOPE COMPANY LIMITED GREAT WEST ROAD, BRENTFORD, MIDDX. Tel. : EALing 6771 (10 lines)
