NOVEMBER 6TH, 1947 FLIGHT Advertisements Where the operating speed range of an aircraft's engine is too great for a normal D.C. generator system, the rectified output from the six salient-pole alternator (illustrated) can be used effectively. With a minimum alternator speed of 2,500 r.p.m. a rectified output of 8 K.W. can be obtained and with a minimum speed of 5,500 r.p.m. the rectified output is doubled Either output can be maintained up to a speed of 12,000 r.p.m. The rectified voltage or voltages can be selected between 28.5 volts to 128 volts. The alternator is blast cooled and self-excited through rectifier and voltage control unit. It is manufactured in special lightweight materials and weighs 55 lbs. When driven at a constant speed of 8,000 r.p.m. it will develop 203 volts, 3 phase, 400 cycle, 40 K.V.A. with a .8 P.F.
