16 Advertisements. FLIGHT DECEMBER I8TH, 1947 BRITAIN'S AIR UNIVERSITY is established to cater for every branch of Aeronautical Science for Students of all nationalities. A Staff of forty Specialist Instructors with modern and completely equipped Demonstration Rooms and Laboratories ensure the highest standard of training. The curriculum includes ;— COURSES IN FLYING, both "ab initio" and advanced, including Conversion to twin-engine types and all weather flying for the Pilot's Instrument Rating Scheme. The duration of Courses extends from a few weeks in the case of experienced Pilots to three years for the "ab initio" Student wishing to make Civil Aviation his career. GROUND COURSES FOR AIRCRAFT NAVIGATORS, COMMERCIAL and AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT'S LICENCES, including Conversion Courses for holders of existing licences. AIRCRAFT ENGINEERING—complete practical and theoretical training, combined with actual maintenance experience of operating aircraft. Courses for beginners, partly trained and advanced students for Aircraft Engineers'1 "Jlf" Licence in Categories "A", "C" and "A"'. Also a two months' ground course for Ex-R.A.F. Flight Engineers for the Civil "O" Licence. The syllabus complies with the latest regulations of British Civil Airworthiness Requirements issued on the 1st October, 1947. DEPARTMENT of RADIO and RADAR, offers Courses for the proposed Radio Engineers'" Licence, and for professional qualifications. The syllabus for the Aircraft Radio Operator has now been augmented to provide training for the new 1st Class Licence. Conversion Courses for this qualification ate also available. A new feature is the introduction of a Course for the RADIO OPERATOR/MECHANIC, designed to ensure that a Radio Operator is qualified to maintain his own equipment. The Ground Courses provided at the School are approved by the Ministry of Education for the award of grants under the Further Education and Training Scheme to eligible candidates. All Courses are on a full-time and residential basis. Full recreational facilities are provided at the School.
