FEBRUARY 12TH, 1948 SAFETY thronuh t»nuini* development testing The reputation ol " Bristol " Type 170 aircraft ior safety and reliability is largely due to the " Bristol " Hercules sleeve-valve power units. The intensive test programme of "Bristol" engines includes long-endurance running under the severest overload conditions , a customary development run being 50 hours at take-off power. Non-stop runs of several hours duration are frequently carried out at powers 20% or more above the declared maximum, and finally the complete unit undergoes a flight test programme of at least 200 hours in the air. This provides "Bristol" Hercules engines with a basic safeguard of reliability which is a leading factor in making the Freighter, or Wayfarer, one of the safest aircraft available today. • buitdinu safe and economical aircraft H I S T O L AERO LANE COMPANY LIMITED Printed In ttreat Britain tor the Proprietors, FLIOHT Pr BUSHING COMPANY LIMITED, Dorset House, Btamford Street, London, S.K.I, by ThK COBNWALJ. tuuaa LTI>., l-ti, Paris garden, Lonaou, 8.fc,J."Flight" can be obtained abroad from the following : AVSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND : Oordon & Gotch Ltd.
