::f: : ---.., A DECEMBER 2ND, 1948 AIR FREIGHTING FEATS MADE POSSIBLE BY THE "BRISTOL" FREIGHTER. No. 13 H* ^ LEP \\ LEP »*•» Mr. 1. LEP The fur fties \ . . by * Bristol ** Freighter - Supporting—as it does—an oft-repeated claim that the " Bristol" Freighter is able to carry, economically, many types of cargo not normally carried by air, a recent air-freighting operation with a cargo of furs is of especial interest. The consignment, consisting of 40,000 skins valued at £10,000, was flown from Gatwick to Le Bourget. With a cargo of this kind, exceptional stowage space in the aircraft is essential to justify the air-freight method of trans- portation as a commercial proposition. The " Bristol" Freighter, with its 2,360 cu. ft. hold, will accommodate bulky cargoes — cargoes of a type which, because of their high bulk to weight ratio, cannot be carried, economically, by any other aircraft. FUR DEPT The fur skins are stacked in the Freighter's spacious hold. Pf The crates are lashed to the tying-down points on the hold floor. reliable, economical easily-maintained aircraft THE BRISTOL AEROPLANE COMPANY LIMITED ENGLAND
