FLIGHT JANUARY 6TH, 1949 Service Aviation July, 1927, and transferred to the reservefrom July, 1932, until the outbreak of war, when he resumed flying for afurther two years. Gallantry in rescue attempts after three different aircraftcrashes earned "him the O.B.E. and George Medal, in September, 1943, andOctober, 1944. respectively. V.I.P. at Wolverhampton AN airborne Santa Claus is an annuallypopular subject for cartoonists, air- minded and otherwise, and his recentflights of fancy have been no less fre- quent than in previous years. It islearned from No. 25 Reserve Flying School of the R.A.F.V.R., however, thatthe legend lately became reality, when Father Christmas himself touched downat Wolverhampton in the School's Alison I. He was welcomed by sixty children—thirty from local Cottages Homes and an equal number of Reservists' children—whom he led to the meaa for a tea party, and presentation of toys. Some of thechildren transmitted their choice of gifts to the Anson through the R/T, and arecording of "Operation Reindeer" as the occasion was officially styled, wasbroadcast by the B.B.C. Canadian Jet Leakage WE have received a letter fromCharles W. .Cain referring to the paragraph in the issue of Flight for De-cember 16th, in which his name was mentioned. Mr. Cain informs us thathe was not the author of the article in Aviation Week in which a new Avrotwin jet fighter XC-100 was prematurely described. We are happy, therefore, tocorrect any misapprehension that may have been caused by the report eman-ating from Canada. It may be remembered that A.V-M.W. A. Curtis, Chief of the Canadian Air Staff, stated in Montreal recently thatan official investigation was being made into the whole, subject of the leakage.
