When cast, the casing weighs 240 lb., subsequently to be reduced by machining operations to a finished component weight of go Ib. During casting, a sample "pour" is given physical tests and analysis ; x-ray tests are carried out on every casting to check internal structure ; pressure tests and inspec- tion after each machining operation further ensure that each component is as perfect as modern manufacturing methods can make it . . . ^Hj "Bristol" sleeve-valve reliability is inherent.
