MAY 5TH, 1949 AIR FREIGHTING FEATS MADE POSSIBLE BY THE "BRISTOL" FREIGHTER. NO. 15 A MONTH SAVED . . . by " Bristol" Freighter A seven-mile pier being built for an oil company in the Middle East may be completed a month earlier than scheduled, thanks to a " Bristol" Freighter. Unable to get plant transferred from other Middle East projects, the British engineer in charge flew to England, ordered an air compressor, rock drills and other equipment direct from a British factory. Delivery by surface transport would have meant a month's delay, so a " Bristol" Freighter was chartered. On Friday, February 18th, it took off from Blackbushe with the 3^ ton compressor and other apparatus safely lashed in the hold. By the following Monday the plant was in full operation on the fringe of the Saudi Arabian desert. A month had been saved and further proof provided of the " Bristol" Freighter's usefulness as a " carry-anything " aircraft built specifically for high-load air freighting. The " Freighter " flight which lopped a month off working schedules. eiiabie^ economical easily-maintained aircraft THB BRISTOL ^AEROPLANE COMPANY LIMITED ENGLANl
