Exhaust and inlet ports are punched at an early stage in production, and successive grinding operations alternately on the bore and the outside diameter, reduce the sleeve too final bore sr%e of 5-75" with a sleeve wall thickness of •139*. The sleeve is finished to limits of - -•0012" on the bore, — -0012" on the outside diameter, and an ovality limit of •001*. Finishing is effected by honing and lapping. An efficient oil carrying surface is formed by subjecting the sleeve to a final operation which produces an overall satin finish ^^| • • • "Bristol"sleeve-valve reliability is inherent.
