32O FLIGHT. 8 September 1940. THE INDUSTRY (Left to right) Run baleen electronic tachometer; Vosper air-sea rescue launch; David Brown tractor; Walter Kidde applicator for engine-fire extinguishing TN the pages which follow are summaries of the principal products of some 400 British firms contributing directly "and indirectly JL to the construction and maintenance of civil and military aircraft. This section of " Britain's Aviation Industry " Number of Flight should be regarded as supplementary to the preceding four pages, where, under the heading of " Essential Services," major aircraft installations such as hydraulic systems are reviewed. In order to make both sections more self-contained as a work of quick reference, the paragraphs immediately following give very brief details of the main products of the airframe and engine manufacturers ; these are described in greater detail in other parts of this issue.
