FLIGHT, 6 April 1950 SERVICE AVIATION Royal Air Force and Naval Aviation News mn d Announce me n ts Ark Royal Launch IT is hoped that some 400 officers andmen from the old Ark Royal, sunk off Gibraltar in November, 1941, will see the Queen launch the new 36,800-ton carrier of that name at Cammell Laird's Uirkenhead yard on May 3rd. A sister ship, H.M.S. Eagle, is now nearing com- pletion at Harland and Wolf's Belfast vard. These two carriers will be Britain's largest. Helicopter Ambulances '"THREE Westland-Sikorsky S-51 ambu- J- lance helicopters will arrive at Singapore by sea about the middle of this month.
