20 APRIL 1950 Contributing to sleeve-valve fuet economy Accurate and consistent fuel metering The injector is fully automatic, and high fuel con- sumption due to pilot's errors are impossible. The injector is fully and accurately compensated for temperature. Since the injector meters fuel according to the engine R.P.M., boost pressure, induction temperature and exhaust back pressure, there is no direct measurement of the airflow and no Venturis or impact tubes are used. This eliminates the possibility of the mixture strength being upset by icing or partial blockage of air passages by dust or insects. It also means that the intake is unaffected by air intake design or by the airflow pattern. To avoid any risk of the metering being affected by foreign bodies in the fuel, a special fuel felt is fitted. low fuel consumption sleeve-valve engrines THE BRISTOL AEROPLANE COMPANY LIMITED ENGLAND a&v.-.,. •• •
