Hawker Siddeley AppointmentM R. PERCY DAVY, O.B.E., has been appointed Hawker Siddeley Group representative in India, and left London last Friday for his temporary head- quarters in Bangalore. After a visit to Indonesia, he will return to England for the S.B.A.C. Show. Until recently, Mr. Davy was Deputy Director-General of Civil Aviation in India. During his long Service career, both as a pilot and engineer officer, he served for some time in India and, in 1940, was responsible for organizing the training of Indian mechanics. Since the war he has held several senior posts in India's Directorate of Civil Aviation. Refit for U.S.N. Dakotas /CONVERSION of 100 Douglas R4D ^-' (Dakota) transports into military versions of the Super DC-3 has been ordered by the United States Navy. The work of modernization, which will be undertaken by the Douglas Aircraft Cor- poration, entails the installation of more powerful Wright 1820 engines; the fit- ting of new outer wing panels, under- carriage wells, and a retractable tail- wheel; and doubling the fuel capaeifcy.. Preston, at the company's annual general meeting.
