FLIGHT, 15 August 1952 II • F B R H Z I L have chosen the Heron flights to the North with a stop at the City of Cipo, continuing in the direction to the famous waterfall called Paulo Affonso. The City of Cipo is a thermal health resort and is well known throughout Brazil. Paulo Alfonso, the biggest waterfall of this country, is nearing its completion with an enormous hydro-electric plant, a masterpiece of engineering, which can be considered as one of the most important steps in the history of the North-! astern States of Brazil. n Sao Salvador to the West we shall fij via Bom Jesus de Lapa, a place for pilgrimage of the Catholics, a celebrated sanctuary at the banks of Rio S. Francisco, and likewise a point of commercial crossing between the Atlantic Coast and the West. From Bom Jesus we shall continue up to Santa Ana, Santa Maria, t onentina, returning on the same day. Means of transportation in these places are very scarce, due to the fact that there are no rail-roads and the few roadways become practically unserviceable as a consequence of a spell of bad weather. Erom Sao Salvador to the South we shall use the ver> productive region of Tabasco and Cacao, stopping at the C ities of Sto. Antonio de Jesus, Jequie, Itacare, Itabuna, Ilheus. Cartavieiras, Belmonte and the cattle region of Itambe. 13 E HAVILLAND HI RON I' LAND G 30 ENGINES 1NG HE 1'ROl'EI I FRS
