This newly developed Smiths Altimeter registers up to 60,000 ft. with the same precision as lower range instruments. The range has been extended by refinements in the linkages, the extensive use of jewels, and the incorporation of a special low hysteresis capsule. Size and weight are the same as standard Altimeters. A short while ago he was testing a supersonic aircraft — doubtless using Smiths instruments designed for high speed flight.
