50 FLIGHT 21 MAY 1954 •• Now being fitted to "Pionair' fleet BE A tested the Goodyear single-disc brake intensively, and reported its operation as "excellent". The tests, which were completely independent, fully confirmed data previously provided by Goodyear. Approximately 1.000 landings between change of lining or adjustment. Automatic adjustment makes 'snatch' impossible. Greater heat dissipation. Greater braking torque. Simpler maintenance: there are fewer working parts. Lining condition is visible at a glance. Longer life—the brake is actually designed and qualified for the Super D.C.3. Furthermore, the wheels and brakes on the aircraft weigh less, they will have longer life. As a result of these findings, BE A are now fitting their 'Pionairs' with Goodyear single-disc brakes. GOOD/YEAR WHEELS AVIATION PRODUCTS BRAKES THE GOODYEAR TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY (GT. BRITAIN) LTD.. AVIATION DIVISION. WOLVERHAMPTON
