8 FLIGHT 4 JUNE 1954 MACH SWITCH This is a pressure-ratio switch operated by forces proportional to pitot and static pressures. It may be used to operate a warning or control device such as alteration of trim, when aircraft approaches a pre-set mach number. The range of this instrument is 0.72 M to 1.5 M with an accuracy of +0.005 M of the pre-set Mach Number with a differential of 0.005 M altitudes below; and to within 0.01 M at altitudes above 40,000 feet.
