FLIGHT, 9 September 1955 467 SERVICE AVIATION Royal Air Force and Fleet Air Arm News The Duke at St. Athan N October 14th H.R.H. the Duke ofEdinburgh is to visit Royal Air Force Station St. Athan, South Wales. A Standard for No. ioo Sqn. DURING the latter half of next month aSquadron Standard is to be presented to No. 100 Sqn., now based at Wittering,near Peterborough, and commanded by S/L. C. P. H. Hunkler. Former membersof the squadron interested in attending die ceremony are invited to get in touch withthe squadron adjutant at the above address. "New World" Progress BETWEEN August 16th and 19th theCanberras of No. 139 (Jamaica) Sqn., engaged in Operation New World, visitedBritish Guiana and Trinidad. The flying display given near Georgetown, capital ofBritish Guiana, is reported to have drawn the largest crowd ever assembled in thecolony. All shops and schools were closed for the occasion, and large crowds alsoassembled in a number of outlying towns over which the Canberras later flew. Service Conditions Report THE Air Council is now studying a reportsubmitted by a team of senior officers and scientists after a year of experimentsat R.A.F. Benson. Activities, both on and off duty, were closely observed, and time-and-motion studies made in order to analyse methods of work with a view toimproving them. Airmen were also asked to give honest opinions on conditions ofservice.
