m 646 FLIGHT THE Sabres of Fighter Command have never been very muchin the news; yet for some time they were the only swept-winged fighters in service with the R.A.F. in England. Two squadrons atLinton-on-Ouse, Nos. 66 and 92, were equipped with them in December 1953 and January 1954 respectively and have operatedsuccessfully ever since. Many other Sabres went into service with the R.A.F. in Germany, of course, but in this country Nos. 66 and92 Sqns. were rivalled only by the few Swifts of No. 56 Sqn. until the Hunter went into service with No. 43 Sqn. late in 1954. TheSabres have now done their work and are being pensioned off; and the event was marked by a party at Linton recently. Many oldmembers of both squadrons attended, and No. 92 presented a replica of the squadron badge to Mr. G. G. Eldridge, UnitedKingdom representative of Canadair, which built the aircraft. Mr. Eldridge gave the squadron a model of the Sabre. Now both X
