Japan's first indi-genous jet aircraft of the post-war years, the TlFl Orpheus-powered trainer, is sche-duled to pass into production during 1959. U.S.A. Fair child C-123. Ten of these transportsare to be supplied to the U.S.A.F.'s North- cast Air Command for ice-cap transportflying, in replacement of C-47s. They will be fined with ski landing gear and auxiliaryturbojets. Fairchild are reported to be preparing to demonstrate aircraft of thesame type for use aboard U.S. Navy carriers. It is hoped that an evaluationmight be ordered with the idea of increasing Marine mobility. Martin P6M SeaMaster. A productionorder to the value of $121,422,478 has been awarded to Glenn Martin by the U.S.Navy in respect of this high-speed flying- boat. Several weeks ago the Paris prototype completed the first stages of the official tests for obtaining an American certificate of air- worthiness. The second example was then to be put through the entire series of ground tests at Issy les Moulineaux, and the third (about 60 per cent completed at that time) was scheduled to fly during December. The Paris has been ordered into quantity production. Kord 2506 Noratlas. The 2506 version of the Noratlas twin-boom freighter flew early last month. It incorporates air brakes at the rear of the fuselage, flaps of a new type, and an undercarriage which can be adjusted in height in order to facilitate loading. The Turbome'ca Marbori auxili- ary booster units are standard equipment. Marcel Dassault Mystere IVA. Produc-tion of this fighter is being stepped up in consideration of orders received fromNATO, the French Government and foreign sources. Twenty-four have beenordered by Israel and about a hundred by the Indian Air Force. Italy New projects.
