The Tu-104 has been fully described and evaluated in earlierissues of Flight, and no further comment need be made here except that its introduction on the long-distance trunk routes willconsiderably reduce journey times and will bring to Russian travellers for the first time the comfort of a pressurized cabin.The 11-12 has been seen in the U.K. on several occasions and its general specification is fairly well known; it is not unlike theDakota, but is provided with a tricycle undercarriage. The 11-14 is, as already mentioned, little more than an improved version of the 11-12, whilst the Li-2 is almost identical with the Dakota.A point of interest is that, according to an official Aeroflot description, the 11-12 is normally fitted with only eighteen seatsand the Li-2 with a mere fourteen; this would suggest that a good deal of the fuselage space is devoted to the carriage of mail andcargo, and an earlier remark suggests that these form no incon- siderable proportion of the traffic generally. There are, nevertheless, certain express passenger services, particularly to the Black Sea resorts, for which the aircraft are presumably fitted withrather more seats.
