In collaboration withthe O.F.E.M.A. organization Air Fouga have granted a licence to Israel for the con-struction of the Magister twin-jet trainer. The company concerned is Bedek Aircraft,workshops at LyddaOLIU^LIUJU ui uit iviagiaL^i Lwui'jti uaiuti. i , Ltd., which has its workshops t airfield. Great Britain Hawker Hunter F.6. According to Avia- tion Week, the gross weight of the Hunter F.6 is 17,800 lb, and the overload gross weight 23,700 lb. U.S.A. Anti-submarine Aircraft. The U.S. Navyis reported to be favouring land-based air- craft for future anti-submarine work,although tentative instructions have been given to Convair for the development of a! water-based three-engined machine. For ; a design competition now in hand Lock-heed plan to submit a version of the Electra. ; Convair B-58 Hustler. It is reported that when General Thomas Power, Chiefof the U.S.A.F. Strategic Air Command, flew in a B-58 recently a Mach number of 2.09 was attained at a height of 50,000ft., For a period of more than thirty minutes, i it is stated, the B-58 remained above Mach 1. Lockheed L.I649. Operated by T.W.A.as the "Jetstream Starliner", the super- long-range Constellation is being refittedwith propellers with solid light-alloy blades. The original blades, of the newly certifi-cated hollow-aluminium type (Hamilton Standard), have given core .trouble. France Industry Cutbacks ? The French aircraftindustry has been warned to prepare for reductions in military aircraft productionorders and for the concentration of all mis- sile work in one service, with a single testinstallation at Colomb Bechar. The inter- cepter programme appears to be largelyintact, except that all Trident and Super Vautour production might be • cancelled.The number of Vautour bombers ordered might be reduced from 200 to 160; and theNord 2506 assault transport and Br^guet 765 heavy transport might be cancelled.Projected Potez 75 production is similarly threatened and helicopter productionwould be slowed down. A number of Morane-Saulnier 733 Alcyons would bedropped and the pre-production order for twin-engined Sipa 1100 ground-attackmachines would be reduced from ten to REPUBLIC F-105B THUNDERCHIEF (Pratt and Whitney J75) Span 34ft 11 in Length 63ft 1in
