g JANUARY 1959 FLIGHT 13 THE LARGEST HEAT SHROUD IN THE WORLD! is now being made by Delaney Gallay LTD for the Vickers Vanguard Delaney Gal lay Ltd. supply heat ex- change and heat insulation equipment for the world's finest aircraft, and will be pleased to help you with your problems and projects in these fields. Its function is to protect the fuel contained in the wing structure from the heat of the jet pipe. Construction consists of a layer of special insulant which neither breaks down under vibration nor fuses at elevated temperatures, sandwiched between two outer sheets of -004" gauge stainless steel. The steel is dimpled for extra strength and the whole blanket completely sealed against the ingress of fuel, the circumferential wedges being welded channel con- struction. The thickest metal used in any part is only -015" gauge. , Anti-Icing Too Delaney Gallay have also designed and are manufac- turing the anti-icing system for the Vanguard. It incorporates the stainless steel heat exchanger shown here, which because of the fine gauge metal used, weighs no more than an equivalent exchanger made of light alloy.
