20 MARCH 1959 ELAND specially designed for the Fairey Rotodyne, is basically the standard Eland with an auxiliary compressor mounted at the rear. ELAND propeller-turbine engine for new airliners and for the conversion of piston engined airliners. The Eland, which powers the Canadair 540 and Convair 540, is rated at 3,500 e.h.p. and has been approved by the British A.R.B. and the American C.A.A.
