32 FLIGHT 1 MAY 1959 HIGH OUTPUT FUEL FILTERS A new Streom-L/ne development jj to extend their range of aircraft refuelling filters Stream-Line filters (types K and PM) are well known for high efficiency and absolute relia- bility for the removal of solids and traces of finely dispersed water at the point of actual fuelling into aircraft. To meet the demand for a filter of much greater capacity in applications where removal of solids only is required, a new filter element has been designed using a specially developed impregnated paper in deeply pleated form through which the fuel is passed actually between the individual fibres of the paper (Fig. 1) instead of between consecutive papers as in the standard K and PM 'edge' type elements (Fig. 2). Our engineers will be pleased to discuss this filter with you. Fig. 1 Fig. 2 The 400 G.P.M. filter is only 20" diameter & only 32" long. The 1,000 G.P.M. filter is only 364" diameter & only 40" long. No fuel lines come near the cabin, only the crossfeed traverses thefuselage. The fact that the mainwheels are mounted on thefuselage is sufficient proof of its strength in a belly landing—the sturdy underfloor box struc-ture offers a pallet to protect the cabin's occupants. Passengers can enter the cabin, no gymnastics, from the ground without danger from airscrews. In bad visibility, level flight in a level altitude, with perfect forward view, at 80 kts—giving a 20 kt margin over the stall.Structure is inherently fatigue-resistant, with dural-type alloys, avoidance of complexmachined fittings, duplicate load paths and generous skin gauges—yet the disposable load is54 per cent of the empty weight. "A" level in Physics and Mathe- matics (or equivalent) are offered training to become Elec- tronic Computer Engineers in one of the maintenance teams of a young and rapidly expanding organization. This is an excellent opportunity, for men between 18 and 25, to train from scratch to reach positions of respon- sibility in a rapidly expanding field. Applicants should write giving personal and education details, and an outline of any experience to: Personnel Officer, LEO COMPUTERS LIMITED, MINERVA ROAD, PARK ROYAL, LONDON, N.W.10.
