15 MAY 1959 FLIGHT THE HELICOPTE on order by Ministry of Supply for the Royal Navy The P.531 has been designed to meet the demand for a compact turbine powered general purpose helicopter. Good performance and carrying capacity, versatil- ity and ease of servicing are features of this functional aircraft. The P.531 is being developed for use in the following roles: WEAPON CARRIER FOR THE ARMY LIAISON • TRAINING RESCUE • CASUALTY EVACUATION LIGHT FREIGHTER • RECONNAISSANCE Powered by a Blackburn 600 Series Turmo free turbine engine, the P.531 is designed to accept engines in the 1000 H.P. range derated to 300 H.P., thus giving it a performance unaffected by climatic conditions or altitude.
