Top honours went to A. J. Spiller (Proctor 3),winner of the King's Cup race; Capt. N. Baldwick of the Army Air Corps (Auster 6), the 1959 Air Racing Champion; andF. Liardon of Switzerland (Biicker Jungmeister), who won the British Lockheed International Aerobatic Competition. On Thursday and Friday, July 9 and 10, the three rounds ofthe three class races were held—for the Kemsley Trophy, the Osram Cup and the D.H. Tiger Moth Trophy. The results ofthe contests, and of the King's Cup race held on Saturday, July 11, are given in full in the tables on these two pages. The Lockheed international contest was not as internationalthis year as on previous occasions—a Czech team, surprisingly, was not present—and from an entry list of five French, oneGerman, one Swiss and nine British pilots seven were selected for the final. Because of bad weather no final was flown, however, and the preliminary markings formed the basis of the announced results, which were as follows: 1, F. Liardon (Switzerland),Jungmeister; 2, J. d'Orgeix (France), Stampe SV4; 3, G. Verette (France), Stampe SV4A; 4, L. Biancotto (France), ArchbishopTiger Moth; 5, G. H. Pawolka (Germany), Jungmann; equal 6, M. Charollais (France), Stampe SV4C, and C. Labouchere(Britain), Bishop Tiger Moth. Included in the Air Pageant display on July 11 were outstandingperformances by the seven Lockheed finalists; by F/L.s Paul Hirst and James Rhind in two C.F.S. Jet Provosts; and by the Treble-One formation of nine Hunters led by S/L. Peter Latham. Prizes were later presented to the racing and aerobatic winners byJohn Hay, M.P., Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport.
