FLIGHT, 28 August 1959 CANADIAN AND PROUD OF IT Advanced Canadian derivatives of the Bristol Britannia are the Canadalr CL-28 Argus maritime reconnaissance aircraft (above) and the CL-44 long-range freight-liners seen "on the slips" in the large picture on the right. The Argus has four Wright Turbo Compound piston engines and the CL-44 has four Rolls-Royce Tyne turboprops. Piston engined, as is the Argus, the de Havilland DHC-4 Caribou STOL transport (below) has Pratt and Whitney R-2000s; whereas the Canadair 540 airliner (upper right) has Napier Eland turboprops.
