THE DOMESTIC SCjUI. . . FLIGHT, 8 April 19 AIRLINES OF THE WORLD THESE air-route maps of the British Isk show summer and winter domestic servie , in 1959. The map on this page provide an indication of the routes that are operate ] by BEA and the independent companies <: a year-round basis, and the figures indica the total number of seats per week th,, were offered on each route in February 1959. For quick reference, line thicknesses are graded according to the capacity offered. On the opposite page is shown the British Isles 1959 summer pattern; so numerous are the routes operated by the independent airlines that, for clarity, BEA's network has been divorced from those of the private companies and is the subject of the inset map at top right. Insignia of the various independent companies are placed adjacent to their main operating bases and, in the table on the right, these operators have been graded according to the seat- miles of capacity that they offered last year. No attempt has been made to distinguish in detail between the services of individual operators; these are listed by airlines in the directory on pages 485-487. T H SOUTHEND. Blackbush^f-ONDO SEA
